XCOM: Chimera Squad is a standalone addition to the turn-based strategy series. It focuses on a joint human and alien task force tasked with protecting the fragile post-war peace after the events of XCOM 2. In this gameplay, we see one of the big changes to the series with the inclusion of a breaching phase, which eliminates a lot of the running and overwatch elements that took place between fights previously in the series.
Some of the other new mechanics in Chimera Squad are the elimination of permadeath, an overhaul of the way turns work, team up abilities that allow squad members to work together in combat, and attacks solely tied to breaching. There are also breach specific items such as explosives, scanners, and flashbang grenades.
This gameplay shows off some of the new agents who have fixed abilities and stats, which is another big change from previous XCOM titles. Cherub is a door breacher with a shield, Claymore is an explosives expert with powerful delayed charge grenades, Terminal is a team medic, and Shelter is a powerful Psionic.
