On 31st July 1981 Donkey Kong arrived in North America (yes, yes, yes, we know the game was out earlier in Japan). He's big, he's burly, and he was quickly overshadowed by Mario who started off as kind of an asshole.... BUT THAT DOESN'T matter because Donkey Kong remains ICONIC. Not to mention that Donkey Kong was Shigeru Miyamoto's big break. Yes, the very same Miyamoto who worked on Legend of Zelda, Mario Bros, Super Mario Kart, Pokemon Red and Blue, Yoshi's story, Mario party, Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, Pikmin, Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games, Super Smash Bros Brawl, Splatoon, Super Mario Odyssey, Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess....AND MANY MANY MORE!
Sit down, buckle up and lets get historical.
