Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle was the game no one expected to from Nintendo, let alone to be a hit on the Nintendo Switch. I was there in the audience at when Mario Rabbids was announced and I'll admit, I was excited. But how would this game turn out with Ubisoft as a third party making a Mario game? It was decided early on that they did not want another platformer. They wanted to create a new, exciting, and fresh experience. Davide Soliani brought all that a more with Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle.
Everything about this game is so unique. When the worlds of Mario and Rabbids combine in freak accident, we find the Mushroom Kingdom with ears and a plethora of mischievous baddies. The overworld in Mario and Rabbids Kingdom Battle is intricate and promotes exploration. Generally linear but has some surprises wherever you go. And most of all, this sound track is AMAZING! Grant Kirkhope. You've outdone yourself again! Two for two this year! Every beat is fresh, the nostalgic renditions are crafted beautifully, and the scores range from whimsical to intense urgency.
Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle was an unexpected hit to a lot of people. From gameplay to visuals, this RPG is one of the best I've played.
