Yooka Laylee, or Yooka-Laylee depending on how you type, has been something I've followed closely. A Yooka-Laylee review is one of the games I've been dreaming of, and dreading in case it fails to deliver upon my nostalgia. But I'm happy to say that Yooka Laylee are lovable characters, I'm in love with the soundtrack, and I hope my review does this game justice.
It started out as an ambitious dream from members of Rare and the minds behind Banjo Kazooie, to pay homage to their roots and deliver and 3D platformer experience to the modern systems. Kickstarter games have a certain reputation for snags and delays, the biggest for Yooka Laylee being the cancellation of the Wii U version to adjust for the Nintendo Switch. Playtonic Games has delivered a game that reminds of Banjo Kazooie, kept me smiling the whole time, and of course those constant puns in the world of Yooka Laylee.
Enjoy!
